Growing up in a community troubled by crime and substance abuse, I once felt trapped by my surroundings. The Safer South Africa Foundation’s Communities and Justice Programme and Youth4SaferSouthAfrica Debate Programme changed everything. They showed me how the justice system works, taught me that youth have power and responsibility to build safer communities, and gave me a voice through confident debating and critical thinking. Today, I’m hopeful, focused, and determined to rise above challenges and inspire others. Thank you, Safer South Africa Foundation, for believing in us and transforming lives.

The Safer South Africa Foundation transformed me as a young leader, boosting my confidence, leadership, and understanding of youth empowerment and civic duty. Leading the PMI Sports Activation in Mamelodi on 3 October taught me project management while using sport to unite youth and prevent crime. I’m grateful to Mam Edna for her trust, especially in the national debate. As South Africa’s sole Hundred Youth Ambassador and Youth Committee 2025 member, Global Reviewer 2026, Chairperson of Abana Community Outreach, and Doha Debates Ambassador, I’m committed to driving positive change in safer, inclusive communities.

My journey with Safer South Africa Foundation’s Communities and Justice Programme ignited my leadership path, revealing how safety, justice, and youth empowerment intersect. It taught me that real change begins with education, responsibility, and purpose-driven leadership. The Youth4SaferSouthAfrica Debate Programme built my confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking - skills I now use on global stages. Their ongoing support, including backing my speech at the C-STAR Expo in Paris, transformed me into a Global Peace Ambassador and international advocate. Grateful for their belief in me, I now mentor youth and champion justice and equality, paying forward the foundation that shaped me.

My time with Safer South Africa Foundation was life-changing. Selected as one of Gauteng’s top six for the National Debating Team, I built lifelong friendships and a true sense of family with peers from diverse backgrounds. Under the warm guidance of Miss Edna (our “mom and granny”) and Uncle Hector, I gained confidence, debating, public speaking, and leadership skills while learning about community empowerment and crime prevention. Always well-fed and supported, I grew immensely. I’m deeply grateful and proud to be part of this network of young leaders, ready to make a difference.
